Arrested for pushing his scooter. That couldn’t really happen, could it? Apparently, it could have been even worse.
Jeff Brown of Columbus, Ohio was arrested for DWI, spent four days in jail, and had his license suspended for six months when he refused to take a breath test after an officer confronted him on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Brown was walking his bicycle across his own front yard. Brown has since made a YouTube video detailing his ordeal.
Brown made a video where he explains his situation and takes a closer look at DUI laws.
Now, I don’t agree with everything that this guy has to say about DUI. Drunk driving fatalities have certainly fallen quite a bit since MADD started advocating for tougher laws against drunk driving. MADD cites a statistic that drunk driving fatalities have fallen from more than 30,000 in 1980 to fewer than 17,000 in 2004. That’s a huge reduction. Brown is right that most car trips are safe, but reducing the number of people who die is a good thing to do.
But some laws are just ridiculous. Arrested for pushing your bike? That’s nuts.
