Why Doesn’t She Introduce It Then

Via Andrew Sullivan I see that Hillary Clinton is now pushing for members of Congress to go on the record about her idiotic gas tax pander:

“I believe it would be important to get every member of Congress on record,” she said, per NBC/NJ’s MIke Memoli. “Do they stand with the hard-pressed Americans who are trying to pay their gas bills at the gas station or do they once again stand with the oil companies? That’s a vote I’m going to try to get, because I want to know where people stand, and I want them to tell us – are they with us or against us when it comes to taking on the oil companies?”

Really? She’s going to try to get Congress to vote? Color me skeptical. If Hillary actually wanted this to become the law, then why hasn’t she introduced her proposal in Congress? Granted, John McCain, who originally came up with this pander, has introduced a bill to suspend the gas tax, but Clinton claims she doesn’t support that. She only supports the gas tax holiday if we impose a tax on oil company profits to pay for it. That’s not what McCain introduced. Does Clinton actually want this to pass, or does she just want to lie to people to get votes?
